4.What about safety?
Safety is a high priority on every tour offered by Klemtu Tourism. Our guides are trained in emergency procedures and first aid, and carry appropriate emergency and communications equipment in the unlikely event of an emergency. We make no compromises on gear quality and use only the best available. Our boats and kayaks are designed to be stable, comfortable and very seaworthy. There will be a safety talk for each tour during the tour orientation. Before each sea kayak tour there is a comprehensive instructional session designed to familiarize you with paddling techniques and the equipment. 7.What about the weather?
We schedule our tours to coincide with the best possible weather, travelling conditions and nature viewing possibilities. Like anyone we also want to stay warm and dry. Klemtu and the surrounding area does however lie in the heart of the pristine coastal temperate rainforest so it is not uncommon to get rain even during the summer months. We consider this a very small price to pay for the opportunity to experience the rich and diverse ecosystem found in our unique part of the world. Guests must come prepared for all types of weather as outlined in the equipment list provided.

8.What is the food like?
Food on our tours is a key element. We use the freshest available ingredients to prepare wilderness gourmet meals, which are wholesome and hearty. We will also provide high-energy snacks and drinks throughout the day. Whenever possible we will harvest fresh seafood from the surrounding waters and collect berries and plants from the land. With advance notice most dietary requests can be accommodated. Please indicate special dietary requests and allergies on your registration form provided in the confirmation package. For further information about diets and allergies please contact our office.

9.What are the accommodations like?
All Klemtu Tourism tours use our custom designed coastal huts and our floathouse base in Klemtu. These are new huts, which have been built, in traditional style. The coastal huts are situated in beautiful secluded wilderness locations throughout the Kitasoo/Xaixais Traditional Territory. Each hut can accommodate 12 guests. Complete hut amenities include a wood stove, propane cooking stove, cooking and eating utensils, and pit toilets. The floathouse in Klemtu sleeps 6 and has a full kitchen and bathroom with tub/shower. The Waters of the Kitasoo sea kayak expedition will use beach camps, which are modern and comfortable. We use high-quality three season tents by Sierra Designs™ and Thermarest™ pads, and a bombproof tarping system to keep guests warm and dry.

10.What is the local transportation like?
For tour transportation and shuttles we use a safe and comfortable water taxi style of vessel. This is a high-speed craft that can access the natural and cultural sites quickly and easily. We also use a tender so we can access some of the more sensitive wildlife sites with minimal noise.
